Haku Mask, Thunder

This is totally not to make anybody jealous, but, WHEEEEEE!
It arrived yesterday.
Merimask made this Kohaku mask for me. Happy BIRTHDAY to me! More pics in her entry for it here.
A few weeks ago, Merimask asked me if I wanted to barter: a painting by me of Sesshoumaru for one of her leather masks. She makes the most gorgeous masks.
I said "HECK YEAH!" and before I could start on my half, she'd finished this beautiful mask and sent it to me. ^__^
I finished the painting today, hopefully I can manage to scan it tomorrow. It's bigger then the scanner.
(For the curious, that's my bedroom wall, and the prints are paintings by Kinuko Craft, Mucha, and Waterhouse. :)

The pretty Kohaku on my wall inspired me to finish one of my fanart100 pieces I've had sitting on my harddrive waiting to be colored for over a year.
Thunder.
You would think it would be easy to find reference pics of people with under-lit faces, and of models striding forward. But when you try to search for them, they're almost impossible to find! Gwah! I must be using the wrong search words.
I found some, but it took longer then I wanted. XP

I'm getting over my art block! Yay!
My computer time is limited, so all non-digital media. I have a hard time calling markers and colored pencils 'traditional' or 'natural' media, since they aren't natural at all, and not that traditional, unless we are only looking at 50 years of art history. Hehheh.
Y'all thought perhaps I had abandoned my Fanart100 goal? Nope!

I got the day off today and I was able to go to church, so my inner balance should be much better this next week. YAY. Maybe I'll be less cranky to contractors. ;]
I bought sushi last night for the first time in ages. Today I wanted more, so I tried my hand at hand-rolled sushi this afternoon, and they tasted good! Whoohoo! Last time I tried they turned out awful, so this was a lovely triumph. They were vegetarian because I had no meat that would work (canned tuna just don't cut it).

I need a good petal brush, if someone wants to point one out/make one for me. ;) Every self-respecting anime fanartist should have a ps sakura petal brush to add quick and easy Japanese-ness to any picture. That, and floating feathers. LOL.

I exercised today! Resolution #1 began! (I couldn't start yesterday, we spring winter cleaned the garage. Yeek, that's a scary job.)

This one requires an explaination. I was trying to emulate the style of Yoshitaka Amano's mindbogglingly gorgeous work.
And it...really didn't work. I shouldn't have used green in it. But OH WELL! It's definitely an interesting art piece. XP I will be trying again in some other pieces, because mysteriously swirly figures, textiles, and patterns are just really really cool and I like them.
It's quill pen, watercolor, and attempts at ps color adjusting.
I finished all my shopping yesterday! Wheehee! I hope at least one of my online orders arrives today...heheh.

Yellow.
Whoo. So, this is about the first time I've tried to do an art piece in an entirely painterly style. It's not perfect, his face is still driving me nuts, but for a first try, I'm going with it.
I want to master the realistic painterly style, it's one of my major artistic goals. *is determined*
I stared at pieces by loish, heise, and furiae, and some photos I have on my harddrive, but I didn't use any direct reference. All photoshop.
Used peachystick's brushes, they're teh awesome.

I've taken the plunge with the Fanart100 Challenge. XD I decided to do Kohaku/Chihiro from Spirited Away. (total otp) ^_^
I got started while waiting to be approved, so here's the new stuff I've gotten done.
Btw, I'm linking these directly to my Coppermine Gallery on my site. I've had it for a while, but I wanted to customize the layout before opening it to the public. But customizing it is currently driving me nuts, so forgeet it, I'll just open it so people can comment on anything they feel like.
