Harry Potter 7
It was WONDERFUL.

SOOOOOOOO WONDERFUL. And fabulous. And horrible. And fabulously awesome, and I wonder how long it will take me to recover enough that I stop screaming in joy and bursting into tears at odd moments. So good. So joyful and full of amazing moments. I was crying and laughing and whooping, generally at the same time.

So many moments. So many things I had hoped to see but never thought I would. So many I never would have expected. So many things I was curious about but never expected to be addressed. But were. Quite a few things I definitely did NOT want to happen.

I keep bawling. But it was so wonderful.

Thank you, so much, so very much, Joanne K. Rowling, for such a wonderful gift as is the gift of these books, this world, and these characters. And thank you for the philosophies of love, family, and what's really important that runs underneath them, and through them. Thank you.

And now, SPOILERS.

These are my impressions immediately after having read it, and having paced around for and hour or two to calm down. I haven't read anything online, or talked to anybody in real life yet (I really am sequestered at the moment).

By SPOILERS, I do mean SPOILERS!!!!!!

SPOILERS!!

Snape/Lily. Yup! Thought so, not much else would have worked, but I didn't expect it to have gone back that far. She was his chosen love since age 9! WAAAAH! Oh, poor little Sevvy!

Snape vindicated, of course!!! If he had not been, much of everything Rowling had been building on for the whole of the series would have been dashed. Not that I wasn't worried, esp after that completely horrible year at Hogwarts. But I'm so glad to see I was right, and he was working for the side of good. XDDD
But, but, he barely got to do anything!! Gwah! (Besides being headmaster. Which was SO unexpected. But I didn't expect a year of completely open British Death Eater-ship, either. Yeek.) But in the end all he got to do was turn tail, and then beg to get back out there to "find Harry Potter". I was disappointed about his end. :( No chance to betray Voldie in front of his face, only in memory. :( But for Harry to defend Snape in the final battle, straight to Voldemort and in front of everybody, that was beautiful. And little Albus Severus! Wahhh! (I totally want to huggle him.)

People were dropping like flies!!! WAHHH! Tonks and Lupin!! WAAAAAAAHHH! She's killed off all my favorite adult characters. The ones I especially loved for fanfic. ;________;

And Fred! Mad-eye! Dobby!
I was glad that at least T and L went together. But poor George. ;_;

But, Neville pulling the sword out of the hat and killing Negini!!! That was SO COOL!!!
And PERCY!! YAY! He wasn't an insider job like I kindasorta hoped, but YAY away.

And the Ravenclaw Tower! (I would die, riddles for passwords. I'm terrible at riddles. But it was very cool.) And the Grey Lady and the Bloody Baron! The Malfoy Manor! And breaking into Gringotts!! Luna-ness! And Ollivander! So fabulous! So much coolness going around all over.

And the ENTIRE DA!!!!! All the Order! Just showing up! I cheered so hard.

And so much Dumbledore background. Wow, heartwrenching. And GRINDELWALD. Never expected to hear the story. So glad to.
Yup, Harry=Horcrux. Great way to find out what the villain was doing without leaving pov. I liked it. And he was finally valuing Occlumency!

The R/H kiss!!! That was great. And Ron's defeating the locket. And SOMEONE finally thinking of the CoS!! Ron imitating Parseltongue! It was brilliant!

Kreacher! Wow, how far kindness and respect will get you. That was wonderful.
I was so glad Harry didn't actually get the chance to betray the goblin, because that was a horrible plan. And that he didn't choose the Hallows. Of course they were messed up! (Why were they called Hallows anyway? Sacred Items of Death?)

Makani being right about the Malfoys! XD That was cool.

Yay for using Wizarding Fairytales!

I really want to know who got the "unexpected reprieve". And who didn't.

Snape's Patronus, and how he used it. Oh, wowowow. Harry to Lupin about parents leaving their children. wowowowow.

And Harry realizing his similarities to the abandoned boys, Snape and Tom. Wow. (Snape should have realized that, so much eariler, Gah, his blindness to Harry's similarities and his reflected James-hate made me SO MAD in so many of the books. Snape never did anything decent to Harry's face. And thats my biggest pity.)

The VERY END!!! wheeeeeeeee!!!!!
I wanted MORE details. But the very very important ones were there. YAY for the families and the kids!!

So much fabulous stuff!!!!

Okay, I think I'm done for now. I'm going to go watch a completely unrelated Netflix so hopefully I can calm down enough to get some sleep tonight.

The only thing I didn't like about this book was Fred, Tonks, and Lupin. *sigh* I SQUEED when Neville pulled the sword out of the hat. That was just awesome. Defeating Voldie was a little anticlimatic, though.

I do have to admit I had a baaaaad feeling about at least Lupin, after he named Harry godfather to Teddy, 'cause James and Lily did that with Sirius, and within a year, they were dead, or whatever. . . . I get enough of the "let's repeat things!" in the "Legacy Of The Force" books, Jo, I don't need it here.

I really would have preferred if Tonks/Lupin would have been the couple that broke the cycle of destruction that was the entire Marauder generation. Gwah. Would have been much more powerful then the "war kills randomly and indiscriminately" and repetition of godfatherhood thing she did do.

I think I'm going to be in Tonks/Lupin denial.

I agree completely. In my personal universe, they're not dead, and neither's Fred.

Neville pulled the sword out of the hat? Man, I totally missed that. For some reason I thought he had it with him when he came out. *feels silly*

This is what comes of speed-reading and working on maybe 4 hours of sleep and a possible summer cold. :D

He was only "seeing Vicky off". Oh, the perils of dating a younger woman. :]

If you've missed stuff, go back, re-read, they rocked!

It's going to take me a bit to be able to forgive Jo Rowling for killing off Fred and maiming George. And the Tonks Lupin deaths were just so...grumble.

My biggest frustration was being right about so many things: Snape/Lily, Harry being a Horcrux, Aberforth being the guy in the Hogs Head (and trying to pass off his goat Patronus as Harry's--HA!), Ron's leaving Harry for a while, Dumbledore already dying before Snape killed him, the agreement between Dumbledore and Snape, Harry/Ginny, Ron/Hermoine, the initial location of the real locket. . .

But so many things were well done. The mythological references were amazing, the Deathly Hallows themselves were clever, and I never expected Neville to be the one who ended up teaching at Hogwarts. Snape's Patronus being a doe just like Lily's. And the way Jo managed how to get rid of Harry's horcrux was simply brilliant--and so well-planned in advance.

I'm still curious about a few questions Jo promised to answer: What did Dudley see when he was attacked by the Dementors? What do the main three do for work after it's all over? Does George ever get married? Was Teddy a werewolf after all? Did Neville and Luna get married?

*sigh*

I'm in Tonks/Lupin denial, methinks. Would have been so much better if they had liiiiiived...

I didn't mind the theories being right--for her themes to have worked, they were really the only way to go, which is why we did figure them out.

I hope we get lots of answers to the random unaddressed questions on her website.

Despite all gripes, I really loved it. ^^

Nope, hated it with a passion! XD

Aw, thanks. I've been rather offline--reading novels and being out of town and stuff. Haven't accomplished much of ANYthing. .....

NEVER have I cried so much reading a book, ever. I had to leave the room for privacy with my grief. SRSLY. I'm torn up about Lupin and Tonks, still. But she left so many questions! I'm really expecting some kind of separate epilogue, here. I care too much about these characters!

The "Holey" moment will remain forever in our hearts. RIP Fred!! SOB!

I'm so proud of Molly for offing Bellatrix. I really NEVER saw that coming.

I was disappointed by the lack of LunaXNeville, though. I really wanted that to happen.

And how the HORCRUX are they going to translate this into film without completely mutilating it?

The nice thing about me being alone when I read it was I was able to make as much noise as I wanted. And I made a lot of noise. XD Scared my doggy. ^^

I want lots of answers posted on her website. Please, Jo!

I thought this last film wasn't too shabby. XD Luna! And I adore Fiennes' Voldemort. I look forward to more, without thinking they'll be brilliant. :]

XD I can relate with the noise issue. I was cheering and bawling every five seconds. Dobby's death especially - that knocked me for a loop. T_T

I TOTALLY agree with you. Actually, I adored the last film. Goblet and Philosophers' I really liked, Azkaban I LOVED [Guillermo Navarro directed that I believe? He worked on Pan's Labyrinth as well. ^O^] cos suddenly everything was rather Tim Burton-ish as opposed to kiddie-friendly-sparkly-magic-happy-whee . . . but Chamber really let me down. I blame the guy who played Riddle! Was he hamming it up or what?!

Luna rocked! ^o^ And while I was at the book-launch, I was standing with a guy out of her class! He was so funny! SRSLY, I thought I was into these books . . . His costume was awesome! ^_^

OMG YES! Fiennes is FANTASTIC! And apparently he never read the books or anything . . . and yet he plays Voldemort so brilliantly. I mean, he spooked me in the Order . . . even his arms were creepy! XD SO much better than the guy who played the raspy Voldemort head sprouting out of the back of Quirrel's noggin, wouldn't you agree?
