Animematsuri
My sister is home! Yay! We've been having Heroes marathons. I'm finally watching it. And it's awesome. (if rather gorey, yeeig!) Hiro Love!

Went to Animematsuri last weekend. Couldn't get off work so I didn't bother with a table, and this is the first con I DIDN'T cosplay for. Shock!

The con had problems: too long lines, half the panels not happening, blah blah blah, but 4 of my prints in the art show sold. XD Friday wasn't even worth going to. So many people, and nothing to do but look at each other and shop. I paid $40 for this?
I think I'm going to start getting a table for Saturday only and doing it that way on these cons. Because I love face painting. :)

I'm totally going to make an Avatar:Princess Ursa/Zuko's Mom cosplay for whatever con I go to next. And for long term planning: I want to do Sesshoumaru's mother from the Inuyasha manga. But that will be an EXPENSIVE costume, so I'm going to take it slow. And maybe commission the wig, or something.

Am I going to end up being "That Guy's Mom" for every cosplay I do from now on? yeeig. Cute ingenue and slinky sex-vixen just don't work with my body, so elegant matron it will have to be. heh.

Art!:

Blonde Fairy

(I would have called it "Green Fairy", but that has connotations that would disappoint any googlers.) ;]

Lovely! Just beautiful. :-) Your posing is so dynamic...do you use models or is that all out of your head?

My last entry was about art in my house, and your Sess painting is in there. Go look! I got it back from the framer & I want to know what you think (I love the mat).

*smooch* We have to get together & share a table at a con some time. That would be fun!

Thank you! ^^
This one was straight out of my head. If I'm doing something really planned and difficult I try to find ref.
Yay the painting! XD

It would be SO fun to share a table at a con sometime (or next to each other, we may have way too much stuff for only one table). I've yet to fly anywhere for a con, it'd have to be a big one.

Ursa is so definitely on the "elegant" side rather than the "matronly", so what's not to love? Plus I don't think I have seen any Ursa cosplay yet, so you'll get major points for originality. (And probably chances for some cute photos with any Zukos or Azulas in attendance -- there are a few pretty good ones out there!)

(I'm sorely tempted to cross-cosplay as Haru myself, as I'm flat-chested enough to do a teenage boy without too much trouble and his outfit looks like it would work well to disguise girly hips. Plus it'd be pretty easy to whip up and with a bit of more brownish dye I won't have to bother with a wig. I *had* perfect Suki hair about a year and a half ago, but I really don't want to cut it that short again...and much as I love the Kyoshi clothes and makeup, there are already a couple of Sukis and Avatar Kyoshis running around out there, plus the costume would be so much more work than simple Earth Kingdom civilian duds...)

You have already seen the Avatar costuming community, I presume?

Yay for elegance! Which is why I want to do her. And that she's very cool. And loving.

Good luck with your Avacosplays too. ^^

I haven't been to that comm yet. I should mosey on over. :)

I have dreams of dressing up as Tohru's mom from Fruits Basket.

That would be cool! But hard to do her so that she'd be recognized, since her clothes are quite normal, and stuff. hmm.

Something like that might work best as part of a group costume -- if you've next to someone dressed as one of the more distinctive-looking characters, your normal outfit could become more recognizable in context.

I think you should save up and attend AnimeBoston 2008. ::hint hint wink wink:: If you manage to cosplay Sessh's mom then, we could get photos taken together. ^_^

And if you *do* take me up on that suggestion, we should get art tables next to each other. You paint faces, I sell fans, we both happy.

XD That would be very cool.
I have yet to fly anywhere for a con, so I'd have to put some major thought into it. And it would have to be a BIG con.

AB is indeed a big con. Near as I can tell, they've been going since 2003, and it just gets bigger every year. The Artist's Alley is highly competitive (as in, tables sell out within minutes of going on sale). If you do suddenly decide to go, talk to Anki and me. She lives about 1.5 hours from Boston and provided me with lodgings this pas time.

You can check out stuff at AnimeBoston's website.

And at some point, I'll have to arrange things so I'm in Dallas for A-Kon (that's the one there, right?) again sometime, and actually attend.

Lovely work as always! And good call with the title! Green Fairy...yep, I'm continually amazed at what you can pull up on the internet with even the most innocent sounding of keywords!

Thanks! Yeah, I get some funny ones in my stats. Didn't want to add to it. ;}

(Red Rover! I hadn't thought of that as in Inu pun yet. Snerk.)
